We wanted users to build with their own voices. We wanted low-floor access for users to be comfortable jumping in and playing, while still allowing for them to create freely and tell any story. We prototyped various book, box, and board forms with a variety of prompts.

Ultimately, we went with entirely picture-based story prompts to be accessible for kids who could not yet read or write (with blank cards for them to draw their own stories!). We built eight different cartridges, each capable of holding a picture, recording, and playing back audio. This enables physical tinkering with story organization and voice recordings.
